Friday Evenings
Greeting Shabbat with Temple Sinai
First Fridays at 7:00
Mostly Musical Shabbat, a Shabbat evening service filled with music, led by Cantorial Soloist Sara Stock Mayo and the Temple Sinai Band. Come prepared to sing along, and maybe even dance a bit.
Second and Fourth Fridays at 8:00pm
A more formal Shabbat evening service with Torah reading and a d’var Torah.
Third Fridays, come to any or all of the following:
Tot Shabbat at 5:30: With a special prayer book, soft stuffed torahs for cuddling, Sheli the puppet, and more, our youngest congregants (up to first grade) with their families will take an active role in welcoming Shabbat.
Shabbat dinner at 6:00: Enjoy an affordable, high-quality catered dinner, with table games for families to enjoy. (Reservations required by Tuesday of that week. Reservation form)
Shabbat evening service at 7:00: A service designed to engage people of all ages, with opportunities for congregants to lead parts of the service. Includes a lesson drawn from the 10 commandments and a birthday blessing.
Shabbat BaBayit at 8:00 in a congregant’s home: For those who want a more intimate, post bar/bat mitzvah (teens and adults) Shabbat experience. With guitar in hand, story at the ready, and prayer in heart, Rabbi Gibson will help us all experience Shabbat in ways you might not have thought possible. (Varied locations, limited attendance, reservations required by Wednesday of that week. Contact Janet Schwartz for more information.)
Fifth Fridays — Sinai Shabbat
When they occur, we have a celebratory Sinai Shabbat, including dinner, varied activities and study opportunities, and an 8:00 service. See Doorways and check the website for details of each one; they’re all different.
