Saturday Morning Torah Study and Service
Contact: Monica Cellio, cellio@pobox.com
Torah Study: Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM
We study the Torah sequentially (not following the weekly Parashah) and have just begun the book of D'varim (Deuteronomy). Rabbi Gibson usually leads the discussion, which includes the original meaning of the text and its meaning for us today. Even if you haven't done this before, it's easy to get started. Please join us.
Informal Service: Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM
At 9:00 AM we begin the Informal Shabbat Service. Most weeks Rabbi Gibson leads us with his guitar in a musical service, as we sing or chant the prayers. A lay reader or Rabbi Gibson reads or chants a Torah reading from the Parasha of the week. Participants provide Kiddush refreshments. It's an open, welcoming group, and we hope you will join us for this very engaging service.

The Torah Study/Informal Service group holds an annual Shabbaton (retreat) in a rural setting outside of Pittsburgh, beginning with Shabbat dinner and ending with Havdalah. We pray, sing, and study together--and eat!--in a relaxed setting, with more time to get to know each other, to sing, and to study challenging topics than we have on Saturday mornings.
This year's Shabbaton was held April 16-17, 2010 at Camp Kon-O-Kwee, Fombell, PA.
