Third Friday Shabbat

On the Third Friday of each month, we celebrate Shabbat in a very accessible, engaging and “homey” way — a wonderful way to begin the sabbath.

  • Tot Shabbat at 5:30 — With a special prayer book, soft stuffed torahs for cuddling, Sheli the puppet, and more, our youngest congregants (up to first grade) with their families take an active role in welcoming Shabbat.
  • Shabbat Dinner at 6:00 — We sing songs, light candles and make Kiddush. Sinai members and their friends/families can enjoy an affordable, high-quality catered dinner, with table games for families to enjoy. (Fee involved. Reservations required by Wednesday of that week. See below.)
  • Shabbat evening service at 7:00 — A service designed to engage people of all ages, with opportunities for congregants to lead parts of the service. Includes a lesson drawn from the 10 Commandments and a birthday blessing for those having birthdays that month.
  • Oneg to follow the service

Reservations are necessary and the space fills up quickly. Kindly RSVP by 4 pm Wednesday, immediately prior to the Third Friday of the month. Call 412.421.7039 or email Debbie Haber to reserve your space.
