Global Links is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that recovers surplus medical equipment and materials from local hospitals and other medical facilities that would otherwise end up in landfills. This material is made available to hospitals that serve the poorest members of society in less developed countries. Careful matching is done to assure the receiving health facilities have the capacity to make use of the materials and equipment sent to them. Volunteers sort and pack these medical supplies for shipment; “sort a suture, save a life.” This activity meets monthly on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Global Links warehouse at 4809 Penn Avenue in Garfield.
