Meditation
We invite you to enrich your spirit through intimate, personal practices.
Meditation — Every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30, and one Shabbat a month from 3:00 to 5:00, led by Rhonda Rosen.
Members of this group have a full range of experience, from beginning meditators to those with a mature daily practice. We work on cultivating the skills of mindfulness, concentration, and absorption in silence. We work with the naturally-arising hindrances to the deliberate use of attention. The integration of this into daily life can make this an integral part of the development of one’s spiritual life. If you would like to sit on the floor, please bring your own cushion, and arrive a little early the first time you come.
The sessions held on Shabbat are divided into two parts. The first hour is unguided, with the second hour being guided with texts from the Zohar and other Jewish mystical sources. Those not yet comfortable with unguided meditation are welcome to join the group for the second hour.
Rhonda Rosen started studying Buddhist forms of meditation in 1973, with Burmese and Tibetan masters. She was a student of Rabbi Jonathan Omer-Man for ten years, from 1996 to 2006. She has been teaching meditation in the community since 2006.
