It’s hot out there… and it is getting hotter!

With the start of summer, many of us are enjoying time in the great outdoors.  With that enjoyment comes a great responsibility to care for our earth.  This value has been a part of Jewish wisdom for millennia.  The Rabbis teach us that God made many different worlds at the beginning of time.  He then walked with Adam and warned him, “This is the last world that I make.  You better take care of it.”

It is with that midrash in mind, that I invite you to join me for the launch of the Clean Rivers Campaign here in Pittsburgh. When it rains, sewage and other contaminants flow into our rivers. The Clean Rivers Campaign is working to solve this problem using green solutions that will create jobs, rebuild our neighborhoods, and result in the most benefit at the least cost to our community.

I will be there with our partners through PIIN – The Pennsylvania Interfaith Impact Network and with membersof our congregation’s Just Congregations Environmental task Force.

Friends, this is our last world.  Will you help us keep the water clean?
