Spiritual Thought for the Week: October 28

Rabbi Elazar Halevi Ish Horvitz taught:

Awe and love are the wings of good deeds.”

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi taught:

“An infinite light is hidden in every good deed.”

Points to Ponder:

  1. This week’s Torah portion, Noach, tells the story of a world descended into the abyss. Can good deeds, lifted by love and awe, redeem this world from the ugliness we see around us as R. Horvits claims?
  2. Is R. Shenur Zalman teaching that we might not see the light of our own good deeds?
  3. The darkness of the floodwaters seem to be the very opposite of the light created by good deeds. Do you think this light can be seen even in dark times?

Please feel free to let me know what these teachings prompt in you. Blessings and Good Deeds for us all!  jag
